AWT Certification Commission Approves Revised Language for CWT Credential

New Handbook Now Available

The AWT Certification Commission has approved revised work-experience language for the Certified Water Technologist (CWT) credential. The revision clarifies that candidates must have at least five years of acceptable experience in the water treatment industry and simplifies the description of qualifying experience.

Acceptable experience includes direct sales or service of water treatment applications, technical support of sales or service personnel, technical consulting, or teaching water treatment technology. The revision also removes the previous definition of “industrial water treatment,” recognizing that CWT professionals work across a range of water treatment sectors.
